In early 2024, during Shai Gilgeous Alexander’s near MVP level season, I was inspired to explore what an NBA 2K25 cover could look like if he were the face of the franchise. At the time, Luka Dončić was rumored, and later confirmed, to be the official cover athlete, which made the idea of reimagining the cover around both to be even more compelling, forming a bit of storytelling through rivalry.
The project began as a creative experiment to blend storytelling with design, capturing not just an athlete, but a moment in basketball culture. I studied past 2K covers, Nike campaigns, and OKC’s bold aesthetic to craft a visual that felt authentic to both Shai’s personal style and the 2K brand. The goal was to merge the grit and elegance of his playstyle with a sleek, high energy design language that would feel official, yet fan driven.
This project was an exercise in creative prediction and design intuition, imagining how branding and visual identity could evolve around an emerging superstar. It now serves as a standout piece in my portfolio, representing my ability to connect sports culture, design trends, and storytelling into one cohesive creative direction.
